Fortunately, the recent economic crisis has not touched Elsys' bold performance. We have worked hard to prepare for the post-recession period, in terms of both our products and our sales development. We are and will continue to be ready to stand by your side during the recovery.
For our products, we have now introduced an electrical PLM solutions upgrade program (ELECTRE, CATELECTRE, SMARTELECTRE) in the CATIA V6 environment, with a view to providing, as from 2010, new applications built on the innovation and productivity of our highly complementary products.
|
On the sales side, ELSYS has adopted an extremely proactive approach to set up a global indirect sales channel. This channel is an addition to the agreement signed with KEONYS for the French and Belgian markets, and should soon come into effect in different parts of Europe and America, primarily in Southern Europe and Brazil.
These developments should bolster the impressive progress we have made on our clients' aeronautic, automotive, and railway projects. For all of these projects, ELSYS boasts unrivalled expertise in full retrieval of data and diagram files as well as the related intelligence.
Our core business is to provide innovative, lasting solutions, support change, and protect clients' knowledge and expertise. This commitment makes it natural for ELSYS' sales force to work in partnership with you, to ensure that your projects are a success.
On behalf of our teams, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

| A SMOOTH TAKE-OFF FOR OUTSTANDING ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING |
Meeting the quality and competitiveness targets
For more than 75 years, AFI has put its expertise and excellence at the service of aircraft maintenance for the AIR FRANCE KLM fleet, as well as for the fleets of civil or military clients which have chosen to outsource the maintenance or modification of their aircraft. Besides the core maintenance business (servicing and operational maintenance), AFI devotes a significant part of its activities to the design and realization of commercial, VIP or military designs. This might be to improve the comfort of the passengers and crew (galleys, seats, rest area, medical area, etc.) or to improve the avionic systems (IFE, communications, TV, Internet, integrated telephones, etc.). One of the most important aspects of this field is electrical systems, whether to meet the new requirements in terms of entertainment or communication, or to adapt to the challenges set by the advances in navigation systems.
It was for this design activity that in 2005 AFI began to look for an overall solution that could cover its electrical and engineering requirements by supplementing or replacing the Autocad-based solutions being used at the time.
Above all, these solutions had to meet AFI’s quality and competitiveness targets:
|

|

|
• Optimization of aircraft down time,
• Ease of retrieving aircraft manufacturer electrical diagrams and production of documents compliant with the ATA standards in force,
• Automated production of modification, manufacturing and maintenance files,
• Detailed management of electrical information and traceability of designs,
• Construction of a consistent set of high-performance and forward-looking electrical design and management tools in order for expertise to be capitalized on and experience to be reused.
|
The Air France industries Project Group tackled these overall problems, with contributions from the ELSYS consultants specializing in electrical designs and the PDM teams from Dassault Systèmes. The objective was to define, test and implement a consistent and integrated electrical design processing chain in line with AFI’s quality and competitiveness requirements: retrieval of manufacturer data, harness diagrams and drawings, manufacturing files, electronic data and document management within the company PDM, paving the way for implementing digital mock-ups.

Copy and Paste Parts of a Diagram
Version 10.09, available from January 2010, provides practical and user-friendly new functionalities for copying and pasting electrical diagrams, making page detail reproduction more intuitive and more certain.
These features now resemble the Windows standards, which many users are accustomed to. There is now a button that can be used to easily define a section to be copied. The keyboard shortcuts Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V can be used to copy and then paste the selected area onto another project page.
|
Tools specific to electrical applications have been added to the find and replace functionalities (Ctrl-F /Ctrl-H). These features can be used to search for specific tags, to replace symbols within a project, or to focus on items found throughout the project, for example.
Improved final documents
To improve printing results, the software now features an interface that can pre-set a change of color upon printing. This interface is available under ELECTRE preferences, in the Print section. It makes it very simple to replace the regular colors that show up well against the dark blue ELECTRE background with colors that stand out more on the white page.
